Paleo Breakfast: Going Against The Grain

 

My Paleo breakfast today.  Consisted of: 

  • organic wild Scottish salmon (good source of omega 3) slow low-heat fried with extra-virgin coconut oil
  • salmon is marinated with organic herbs and spices
  • garnished with sweet peppers, onions and cucumber and a few cashews and walnuts
  • washed down with a 1L bulletproof of loose leaf green tea, with fresh peppermint, lime and a few slices of ginger.

and to think for years my idea of a good breakfast was something that had been in a cereal box for a year or so (and had best before date of a few more years), stripped of its meagre nutrients by refinement, infused with additional high levels of sugar and salt and then fortified with (man-made) vitamins to make it appear healthy.  On top of that I had a smoothie that had more sugar in it than a can of a leading fizzy drink.

I'll go against the grain and take the real food option instead.

Fitness Equipment: A Poor Man's TRX?

 

I didn't want to pay for a TRX or other piece of suspension equipment to do stuff 'like this'.  I thought recently about a jack knife on a swing? Tried it in the park this evening it works.

No financial investment required just a little imagination...

Feature: Men's Fitness Outdoor Workout

Early morning photo shoot in London's Battersea Park this morning.  The heavy rain of the night before had cleared.  It then blossomed into a glorious spring day.  

After a tough workout - my recovery "cool down" was a 7 mile walk back home to West London. 

 

Here I am discussing the practicality and health benefits of PRIMALity with a Men's Fitness journalist.

  

The feature will be out in the "July" edition of Men's Fitness which is due out 21 May 2012.
