Forgive my constant reference to laughter in your playshops, but it is such a striking characteristic for me. So I'll beat it into the ground until people realize how much fun you bring to movement.
"Walk into any gym anywhere and you'll hear all sorts of things: the hum of treadmills, the clank of weight plates, an occasional grunt. But you won't hear the one thing that is a constant sound in Darryl's playshops—laughter. Darryl brings so much to these explorations of movement that it's impossible to call it exercise: collaboration, fun, problem solving, play, engagement, interaction. One word of warning—you won't be giggling the next day when you feel how sore you are. But you'll also be invigorated and plotting your next PRIMALity adventure."
Thanks, Darryl!

Many people don't get this until they try it. What do I mean? Well how many people comment on enjoying movement not because they will get fitter, or look better or will win medals but actually because they enjoy the process of movement. All those other goals will happen naturally as part of that process without the risk of losing joy.
FUNctional movement can be silly but it doesn't have to be pointless. It can be serious, it can be risky, easy or extremely difficult, it can be given context (real or imaginary) with purpose aligned to what we actually want to do in life. I'll expand on this point in a further blog post on PRIMALity. But for now here's a mini-testimonial from one of my recent workshops.
PRIMALity in action.
"Darryl was quite clear when we met him that his fitness sessions would change our lives. I’m always up for some life-altering *WODs, so I made sure I attended the first one I could.
Am I ever glad I did. 40 minutes flew by like 40 seconds. I realized afterwards that I didn’t stop laughing the entire time. Playing piggy-pack tag and hopping like a bunny had me so exhilarated that I actually put on a demonstration for Chris and Orleatha in the Austin airport. Darryl wants people to put fun, functional movement into their lives in a way that enlivens our spirits and makes us stronger." - Tara (Primal Girl)
