Be Positive.

When creating a goal for yourself.  Focus on the positive; for instance, instead of saying "I want to lose 7 pounds" it is better to say, "I deserve to be a stable, and healthy weight of 13 stone."

Instead of saying "I want give up smoking", it is better to say, "I deserve to be and now enjoy being smoke-free"

Instead of saying "I want to exercise 3 days a week for 60 minutes", say "I deserve to integrate activity into my daily life now and I feel good while doing so."

Be positive.  Visualise yourself in these positive states and make it happen.
